Like every year the Forbes magazine has published the ranking of the highest paid models. For the second year in a row Kendall Jenner, with his 22.5 million dollars, won the gold medal for the highest paid model of 2018. Already last year he had beaten the competition stealing the scepter to the wonderful Gisele Bündchen, on the podium for over 15 years.
Out of the podium, we find the super Gisele Bündchen, who shares the fifth position with colleague Cara Delevigne. Both this year, they earned 10 million dollars. The sisters Hadid, Gigi, and Bella receive respectively the seventh and the eighth position. The first with 9.5 million dollars earned, the second 8.5 million. Also, the Puerto Rican model Joan Smalls has received 8.5 million dollars this year.
Fashion Week
This year’s Milan Fashion Week commenced on the 19th of September and ended on the 24th of September. Many well-known faces of the fashion caleidoscope showed up, either on the catwalk or between the crowds. Several brands will appear, bringing their new Spring/Summer collection for 2019. Max Mara, Fendi, Jil Sander, Alberta Ferretti, and Prada are just some of the highlighted names of the week, however, most of the attention is on the Women collection.
Despite this, the media’s eye couldn’t have been anywhere else than on Dolce & Gabbana. In fact, the Italian fashion house is holding a secret show in Milan, titled “The Naked King Men’s Fashion Show”.
It turned out to be even more unexpected than they thought: the managers sent male models down the catwalk, less covered than usual, stepping out in nothing but D&G boxers and bags. The models who opened the show hit the catwalk in plain, black branded boxers, with a clutch bag, knee socks, and a rosary necklace.
The looks gradually switched from total-black to streetwear ensembles, including headgear and D&G eyewear.
Owners of the most important brands in Italy played a crucial role in the promotion of this sector. The Milan Fashion Week includes more than 40 shows; this city transforms itself into an elegant and influential place, like a stage for a design. It’s ready to welcome models, but also singers, actors, and international stars.
Obviously, Kendall Jenner and the trio Hadid (Gigi, Bella, and Anwar) could not miss the event.
As I watched the show, Nicki Minaj, the most expected star, was present for her new Diesel collection, as well as, Hailey Baldwin, the future wife of Justin Bieber.
During the Milan Fashion Week, the well-known Versace show made a perfect parade for Gigi Hadid and Kendall Jenner. In addition to this, the show included celebrities such as Rita Ora, and the influencer Chiara Ferragni, who was accompanied by her husband, the singer Fedez.
At the end of the Fashion Week, on Tuesday 25th of September, Versace had been sold to the US clothing and handbags group Michaels Kors for 2.12 billion dollars.
